Meet the Teacher
Hello Families! First and foremost, thank you for your interest in our Pre-Kindergarten Enrichment Program! My name is Giovanna Hanley, Homeschooling Mama, Founder, and Lead Teacher of Teaching Tiny Humans Inc. I am honored and ecstatic to introduce this program to our Community as it has long been a hope, dream, and evolving goal of mine to advocate for the beauty that is Early Childhood Education, and most paramount, your Tiny Human's formative Early Childhood Years as well!
As the daughter of an Exceptional Needs Educator, my love for Teaching very much began during my own formative years.
As a Pre-Service Teacher in a Reggio-Inspired, Research and Play Based Preschool, I learned the importance of stillness, observation, immersive learning, and most of all, student interest, and play at the forefront of Education. I experienced evolution as I then integrated these practices into the Traditional Public School Setting of Hillsborough and Broward County Schools, where I would go on to teach both Kindergarten and First Grade for years to come.
Prior to my Resignation from the School District in 2021, the System taught me many valuable lessons. The first came from my background within a Local Community Hardship School, and that was, Teach with Love First. Within my classroom on any given day, a Five Year Old may not have eaten for days, witnessed Domestic Violence, been missing their Incarcerated Parent, or simply having a hard morning. And so, while the Public School System may insist upon implementing Standards in accordance with a Standardized Testing Schedule, at the forefront of my Teaching Philosophy, comes Mindful Moments, and Love, and Compassion for both my students, and each other.
Speaking of Standardized Testing, this brings me to my next valuable lesson. Developmentally Appropriate Standards are meant as a guide, and to be just that...Developmentally Appropriate. At The Teaching Tiny Humans Inc. Enrichment Program, Growth Markers will be met with Interactive Learning Opportunities created to meet the needs of each individual Tiny Human, and their learning styles. This is the beauty of Homeschooling and one of the many reasons I have fallen in love with its abundant opportunities to nurture the Whole Child!
Finally, although I likely could write an entire book of lessons learned, my final lesson I will share with you all, that has shaped my evolution into the Homeschooling Teacher and Mama I am today, is this: My Child is my One in a Million, not just, One in a Million. As School Teachers struggle with Over Ratio Class Sizes, I often wonder where my Son Nash, would have "fit" in. Sadly, despite a teacher's best efforts, I feel he would have been suppressed with little room to grow.
As a mother of two, Nash (4YO), and Scottie (1 YO), I aspire to foster a Warm and Evolving Homeschool Environment that is filled with Love, Safety, Community, Play, and Opportunities for Learning Academic and Life Skills that truly matter.
"Our Children are our One in a Million, not just, One in a Million".
If you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read!
With Gratitude,
Giovanna Hanley
